A Perfect Day with a Perfect Start
The weather was perfect as the day began with the groom, Colin, and the couple’s three young sons. Each received a special pair of Nike shoes for the occasion, symbolising the journey they were about to embark on as a family. The joy and excitement in the air were palpable, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Next, I joined Mel, who was a vision of joy and colour. Her vibrant pink hair matched her bubbly personality perfectly, adding a touch of whimsy to the preparations. As she got ready, surrounded by her daughters and close friends, there was laughter, excitement, and a few happy tears. The anticipation of the beautiful ceremony to come was shared by everyone present.
A Ceremony Filled with Family and Love
The ceremony at Sharla Park was a true family affair. All six of Mel and Colin’s children made up the bridal party, adding an extra layer of sweetness and unity to the event. The kids were thrilled to be such a big part of their parents’ special day, and their joy was infectious. Capturing their interactions with Mel and Colin was a highlight, showcasing the deep bond and love that this family shares.
A small rain shower briefly interrupted our photo session after the ceremony, but thanks to the meticulous planning, we were able to resume quickly. Mel and Colin had worked closely with me to create a timeline that allowed for flexibility and ensured we had ample time for all the creative shots they wanted. This collaboration paid off, as we captured stunning images that they will cherish forever.
A Cake Like No Other
The standout feature of the day, apart from Mel’s vibrant pink hair, was the incredible wedding cake. Crafted by the couple in their Burpengary cupcake shop, this 6-foot-tall masterpiece boasted seven tiers of delicious flavours, adorned with flowers, and featured a unique centrepiece: a single tier containing four small fish tanks with Siamese fighting fish. It was one of the most impressive cakes I’ve ever seen, both in size and creativity. Not only did it look spectacular, but it also tasted amazing. Mel and Colin were kind enough to send me home with half a tier, a sweet reminder of their extraordinary day.
